Where I'm at...with live games, anyway

May 31st and this month can't end fast enough (from a poker standpoint).

I've been playing somewhat seriously (i.e. I actually have a strategy to playing) for 9 months now. The learning curve is not completely vertical and I feel somewhat competent and competitive in the local games I'm in. During these 9 months, it's been pretty much feast or famine. Early on, I didn't expect much and got pretty much what I expected. In November/December, had some cashers and won my first MTT and had some good cash game performances....highlighted by a +$300 trip to the 5/10 tables at Caesar's Indiana.

Then came my first stop in poker hell. For a solid month, I caught dead rags. I caught cards that Johnny Chan could win with vs. a bunch of kids from Special Olympics.

Then, all of the sudden, things evened out and I played some pretty good poker at the same time. I won two more tournaments, made 6 other final tables and made over $1500 strictly in live MTTs during Feb. and March.

Pretty much took April off because of some work related trips I had scheduled (which was a good thing, because I got my MCSE which is nice on the old resume). Since I got back it's been sheer frustration, I don't care what happens, it critical situations I either get outdrawn or run into a monster. It has gotten to the point that I have dubbed myself King of the 3-outer. I was way up going into this month, but have given back about half of my profit for the year. I'm going to slow down this month and take it easy. I've found a great MTT in Lexington and will probably make that my regular tournament site. However, it's only held twice a month vs. the weekly tournament I play now. The players over there are more passive and actually respect bets. In other words, they play weak and I can run over them.

As far as online, well, that deserves it's own special post......

Birth of a blog

I might as well join the blog community and hop in.

I figure that while I really dig in and learn to play poker, I might as well document it for the world to see.

You're not going to find any in depth discussions on sex, religion, or anything like that. What is going to be in here is my poker experiences with a tad bit of life mixed in. If there's some sort of epic life experience, I may bring it up, but I'm going to try and keep this poker themed.

So, delve into my expositions and enjoy.
